UpFront and Mail Merge

The UpFront manuals understandably concentrate on windows integration solutions that do not involve alterations to host based code. However if you are prepared to add code to your existing application all sort of possibilities open up. For example it is possible for your application to send a file containing mail merge information to the PC using the transparent print mechanism. UpFront will then launch a word processor that will read the received file.

The transparent print mechanism is covered in the manuals, but essential comprises of a set of escape sequences that tells the UpFront terminal that what is being received should be saved to a file and not shown.
