We all hate popups, and you certainly will never see popups on the MarsJupiter web site.

But unfortunately they are a fact of life. Some Web Masters think, and I guess they must be right or it would not happen, that they can make money out of displaying popups, and their customers will tolerate it.

The subject of popups is a factor in both our Callisto - Newsreader/Bulletin Board Browser and in our Foboz - Meta Search Engine.

Callisto will allow you to view the latest posts on Bulletin Boards without seeing popups, and with Foboz we examine the sites that are included as search engines, for use of excessive and dangerous popups.

However if you are web browsing with Internet Explorer, you are still going to be plagued with popups.  You can use third party software to try and stop popups, but why not make the break and try out some of the alternative web browsers now available?

Currently we are using Mozilla Firebird it offers popup blocking and a "tabbed" interface and despite a few little issues with the current release, is generally a better browsing experience.
